![]() ![]() Most younger ones just want to interact like a petting zoo. Older kids actually can have a class about rabbits. I need help supervising the kids when they are very young to protect the rabbits from being grabbed and to make sure they do not try to pick up the rabbits. Then, I bring out the feed and the kids can feed the bunnies - they love this! Parents take pictures of their children and everyone has a good time. Sometimes (when available) we bring very small babies and they are in a small transport cage or basket for the kids to see babies. Large numbers of kids may have to come in in two sets and that takes more time.We have done it in a small Berkeley living room with parents legs dangling from couches so smaller can be done :-).Īfter the introduction, the kids sit inside the big pen and bigger rabbits will walk around the kids for them to pet. I need a minimum 10 x 10 area for 10 -12 kids, my actual set up can be as large as 10 x 15 ft. The big bunnies and kids will be in the larger circle for petting and feeding. Children can pet the babies inside the circle. There are two fenced circles that will hold the rabbits and bunnies: The inner circle is for the smaller bunnies. When we get started, I have the kids sit outside the bunny fences and I give them an introduction to each bunny and safety tips.As I introduce the rabbits and bunnies I set them down to run around in the pen. The kids often watch me set up while the latecomers arrive. If we have bunny-sit (boarding) bunnies - sometimes we bring them with us too, (with permission of course). Mini lops are a medium sized rabbit with floppy ears, English angoras are long haired rabbits that produce wool for yarn, mini rex's area short-haired velvety rabbit with up ears) and the dwarf hotot is a dwarf rabbit that is white with black eye circles. I bring about 15 - 18 rabbits of all sizes, colors and usually four very different breeds. I have English angora, mini lop and dwarf hotot rabbits that I raise for show. It also has the opportunity of children being able to have the bunny experience without necessarily adopting one. This is the perfect opportunity for children to learn something about them in a structured, safe way. Our bunnies were raised here and enjoy being handled, as they were handled since birth. Note: Dear rabbit rescue people please do not be concerned. We love showing people how fun rabbits can be, and then how quiet they can be. Everything is done with safety of kids and bunnies in mind. We let the birthday child hold a bunny or two for a "photo op". If the bunnies are hungry, we let the little kids feed the bunnies hay and bunny treats. We teach lessons on rabbit care for the older teen parties. I live in the East Bay Area and can travel to your home in the Bay Area. Warm days over 80 degrees must be indoors for the safety of the rabbits. We need about a 10 x 10' space to set up. The bunnies actually run amongst the kids as they are petted and (if hungry) fed. We bring tarps, sheets and corrals for the kids and bunnies to play on. Note: Parties for one-year-olds are REALLY for the parents and older children not the one-year old. We also do informational classes on rabbit care for teens & adults. Parties include show & tell: petting, feeding and viewing several breeds of bunnies (and some baby bunny litters). We do parties for all ages from one-year-old to teens. I bring bunnies to your child's birthday party or school.
